After a dramatic three-wicket victory in a tough match at Headingley, England under Ben Stokes ultimately won the Ashes. Even though England won, Australian captain Pat Cummins was outstanding in the post-match interview, shutting down a British journalist with a simple retort.

Since Jonny Bairstow’s dramatic dismissal during the second Test at Lord’s, Australia’s Pat Cummins has been under fire. But over the past two days, the great pacer has handled the tough line of questioning from the English press with extraordinary maturity.

After the razor-thin defeat in Leeds, the Australian captain was questioned about whether the tide had turned in favor of the home team before the pivotal Test in Manchester. But the Australian captain was having none of it, and with a direct reply, he silenced the journalist.

The interviewer said, “Do you worry that perhaps the tide has turned in favor of England as the series heads to Manchester?”

Not exactly, no,” Cummins retorted.

The journalist inquired, “Why not?” in an effort to get a response.

“2-1,” replied Pat Cummins, amusing several others at the presser.

We will dismiss this one and focus on preparing for Manchester. Cummins
On a dramatic fourth day in Leeds, the Australian captain bemoaned the wasted opportunities as well. In the forthcoming fourth Test, which will take place at Old Trafford in Manchester and start in a few days, he is optimistic that his team will respond.

It’s unfortunate and it’s one of those games where everyone feels like they could have done something slightly different that would have led to a different outcome. But because we’ve all played enough cricket, we’ll put this game behind us and focus on getting ready for Manchester, Cummins added at the news conference.
