Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, was quite complimentary of Afghanistan for winning the ODI series in Bangladesh

Afghanistan won the first-ever ODI series after defeating Bangladesh by 142 runs in the second ODI on July 8 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattanooga. Notably, Afghanistan won the first game utilizing the DLS system by 17 runs, leading 2-0 going into the third and final game, which is set for Tuesday, July 11 in Chattanooga

In addition, he berated Team India for losing to Bangladesh on their previous tour. He brought up the India-Bangladesh series, in which Rohit Sharma suffered an injury and the visitors lost 2-0 before Ishan Kishan destroyed them in the pivotal match, aiding the team in winning the third ODI.

Afghanistan won both games. In their own home, they defeated Bangladesh. We lost the series in the same Bangladesh as this one. Remember the series where Rohit got hurt and the Indian team lost it, 2-0? Ishan Kishan dominated them in the final game, and India won,” Aakash Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.

The 45-year-old continued by claiming that Afghanistan’s spinners were crucial to the outcome of the match since they frequently claimed wickets. He also praised the opening pair of Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored 256 runs off the first wicket together. According to Aakash Chopra, Afghanistan’s victory in subcontinental circumstances will aid them in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, which starts in October.

“They created a web of spin, and the spinners consistently took wickets,” said the observer. The batting has produced Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Rule them out at your own peril, the former cricket player continued, because Afghanistan is claiming that these are subcontinental circumstances as well and that the World Cup in India would have comparable weather.

In the second ODI, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 142 runs to win the three-match series.
The second ODI saw Afghanistan bat first and produce a massive 331 runs, with Gurbaz and Zadran each reaching 145 and 100 runs, respectively. For Bangladesh, Ebadot Hossain took one wicket, while Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mehidy Hasan each took two.

The Afghan bowlers were in charge as they outscored the hosts by 189 runs to win by 142 runs in the 44th over. Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s leading scorer and wicketkeeper, totaled 69 runs off 85 pitches. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi each took two and one wickets, respectively, while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman each got three wickets.
