Sheldon Jackson has a lot of runs in List-A cricket, but he has not been called up to play for his country. The batter, who is 36 years old, had another defeat when he was left off the West Zone’s Duleep Trophy team. Jackson said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik, two famous Indian cricket players, were his role models. He talked about how the way Dhoni and Karthik stay in shape even as they get older is an inspiration to him.
Jackson talked about Dinesh Karthik dedication to the competition in a recent chat with Sports keeda.
He said, “I get inspired when I see Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni. I have seen Dinesh Karthik change over the years. At this point in my job, he is the person who inspires and drives me the most.”
When asked why he wasn’t on the West Zone‘s Duleep Trophy team, Jackson didn’t answer and said that only the people who chose the team were to blame. “I’m not going to say anything about anyone’s choice. I only know what to say about myself. I’ll never call a judge and ask why I didn’t make the team,” he said.
Jackson, on the other hand, believed that he would reach all of his unrealized goals in the future. The Saurashtra bowler may not have a great record in the limited-over format, but his red-ball cricket has given him a chance to show off his skills because he has done so well in that format.
“If I wasn’t good enough, I wouldn’t have played 90+ games with an average close to 50,” Jackson said.
Since his first show in Saurashtra in 2011, Sheldon Jackson has come a long way. He still needs to play a few more first-class cricket games before he has played 100. Jackson has played in 90 first-class games so far, scoring a total of 6608 runs, with 20 centuries and 36 half-centuries. Jackson has played List-A cricket 77 times and scored 2643 runs at a great average of 38.30.
