"I'll be out for a while, but I'm eager to get back into nets" - Kane Williamson discusses his rehabilitation and revival plans.

Kane Williamson, captain of the New Zealand white-ball team, suffered a knee injury in the very first encounter of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. Attempting to save a six, the cricketer fell abruptly and injured his knee, causing him to be eliminated from the competition. Meanwhile, it is anticipated that the cricketer will miss the upcoming ODI World Cup, but he is making efforts to recover quicker and hit the ground running in order to make the squad.

While discussing his progress, the 32-year-old emphasised that his current priority is to enable his knee to heal completely. The New Zealand international posted a video of himself training in the gym and noted that he is not yet 100 percent fit, but he expects to return to the nets shortly.

“Attempting to maintain a week-to-week existence at the present. I’ve never had such a long-term injury before, but after speaking with others who have, I’ve learned that the road ahead is quite arduous, so it’s best not to look too far ahead.

“However, one week at a time, ticking off those minor milestones, those pleasant little victories. “But also knowing that the journey will not be completely smooth and that you will encounter a few obstacles along the way,” Kane Williamson said on Monday.

The captain added that his current training regimen is rather fundamental because he is not attempting to rush things, as doing so can backfire. However, he maintains optimism that he will return sooner than originally anticipated.

“Probably more for sanity and variety… it’s good to mix up all the gym work, physio work, and rehab-specific activities by spending a little time with some of the other guys who are training.

“I’ll be out for a while, but I can’t wait to get back in the nets,” Kane Williamson said.
