The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) got into a new scandal when its new leader, Zaka Ashraf, spoke out against the choice to use a “hybrid model” for the Asia Cup in 2023.
But Najam Sethi’s replacement has softened his stance on the plans for hosting the continental event since his comments caused a media storm.
Zaka Ashraf, who was just named head of the PCB, spoke out about how unhappy he was with the Asia Cup’s hybrid plan on Wednesday. He didn’t think it was good for the country for most of the games to be played outside of Pakistan, which was supposed to hold the tournament.
“This whole hybrid plan isn’t good for Pakistan, in my opinion, and I didn’t like it. As the host, Pakistan should have done a better job of negotiating to make sure the whole event took place in Pakistan. Ashraf told ESPN Cricinfo that giving Sri Lanka the bigger number of games and leaving Pakistan with only four games wasn’t good for our country.

He was very angry with his predecessor for not being able to negotiate a better plan for the upcoming event. Pakistan only got four games, while Sri Lanka got nine. But since his outburst, the head of the PCB has changed his mind and said he won’t get in the way of choices about the 2023 Asia Cup.
“But I see that the choice has already been made, so we have to go with it. I won’t stand in the way of the choice, and I have no plans to do so. I can’t do much about it except keep my promise. “But from now on, every decision we make will be for the country and in its best interest,” Ashraf said in his most recent comments.
