BCCI announces appointments to Women's Selection Committee and Junior Cricket Committee

On June 19, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced appointments to the Women’s Selection Committee and Junior Cricket Committee.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprised of Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, evaluated applications for the positions of one selector on the Women’s Selection Committee and the Junior Cricket Committee, respectively. The CAC unequivocally endorses Shyama Dey Shaw and Thilak Naidu for the aforementioned positions.

Shaw, a left-handed batsman and medium-pace bowler, played three Tests and five one-day internationals for India. From 1985 to 1997, she represented Bengal in domestic cricket, and from 1998 to 2002, she represented Railways. After her playing career, she served for two terms as a Bengal selector.

Former wicketkeeper and batsman Naidu represented Karnataka from 1998–99 to 2009–10, as well as South Zone in the Duleep Trophy and Deoeehar Trophy. In 93 first-class games, he amassed 4,386 runs with his aggressive batting approach. He chaired the KSCA Junior Selection Committee from 2013 to 2016 and served on the KSCA Senior Selection Committee for the 2015-16 season.

Neetu David (chairwoman), Renu Margrate, Arati Vaidya, Kalpana Venkatacha, and Shyama Dey Shaw serve on the Women’s Selection Committee.

VS Thilak Naidu (chairman), Ranadeb Bose, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Pathik Patel, and Krishen Mohan make up the Junior Cricket Committee.
