"Before, everyone on a team was a friend. Now, they are colleagues." - Ravichandran Ashwin talks about how things are going in the changing room right now

Ravichandran Ashwin not being on the Indian team for the World Test Championship Final is still one of the most talked-about things in cricket. Several former cricket players, including Sachin Tendulkar, questioned Team India’s plan because Tendulkar was India’s most successful spin bowler in the last WTC cycle.

Ravichandran Ashwin had said before that he would have loved to play in the summit clash, but he was told about the choice 48 hours before the game. Still, the 36-year-old was seen at the Oval helping the team in any way he could and talking to Rahul Dravid when there were breaks.

Notably, when Ravichandran Ashwin went back to India after the final, he said something surprising.

He said that his friends in the Indian dressing room are becoming more like his colleagues. He also said that in the past, it was all about friendship, but that has changed a lot now.

“Once upon a time, when you played cricket, everyone on your team was your friend. Now, they work together. There is a big difference between the two, because here people are there to move up and get ahead of the person sitting to their right or left. So no one has time to say, “All right, boss, what are you doing?” In an interview with The Indian Express, Ashwin said this:.

The cricket player, on the other hand, chose not to take a break and went straight to play for Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, which is still going on. Already, he has been in the news because of how he leads his team, which is currently third in the points table.

Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to take a break after the T20 league is over and then join the national team for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. The off-spinner is still going strong and can be very useful in the Caribbean, where spinners often make a mark. Ashwin can be a force to be reckoned with for India, and not just against the West Indies, because of his class and dominance. He can be a force to be reckoned with in the current WTC cycle.
