Shaheen Afridi is back on the team, and Mohammad Huraira and Aamer Jamal are getting their first Test calls-ups.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, a fast bowler for Pakistan, is back in the Test team for the away series against Sri Lanka. Pakistan’s first task in the new World Test Championship cycle (2023–25) will be to play two Tests against Sri Lanka.

Shaheen Afridi missed the whole home season for Pakistan because he hurt his knee last year. In the last season of the Pakistan Super League, Shaheen Afridi led Lahore Qalandars to success by beating Multan Sultans. Since this is Shaheen Afridi first time back in the longest version of the game, he will be eager to prove himself once more.

Mohammad Huraira, a batsman, and Aamer Jamal, an all-rounder, are also on Pakistan’s team for the Sri Lanka tour. This is their first time making the team. The former South African fast bowler, Morne Morkel, has been hired as the team’s bowling coach on a six-month contract.

After a year, I’m very excited to be back on the Pakistan Test team. Shaheen Afridi

After taking a year off from Test cricket, Shaheen Afridi was happy to be asked to join the 16-person team. He said that he missed playing Test cricket and that it was hard for him to be away from it. The fast bowler then said that he wants to make a big comeback in the same country and get a hundred wickets in the biggest version of the game.

“After a year, I’m very happy to be back on the Pakistan Test team. I missed Test cricket very much, and it was hard for me to be away from it. After getting hurt in Sri Lanka and missing our whole home season because of it, I’m excited to make a big comeback in the same country and get to 100 wickets in Test cricket. ESPNcricinfo reported that Shaheen said, “I want to thank my fans for being there for me when things were hard, and I am ready for the challenges ahead.”

Pakistan Test squad:

Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (vc, wk), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood
