Ajikye Rahane

On his return to India, senior batsman Ajinkya Rahane scored 89 runs to help India post 296 runs against Australia in the World Test Championship final. When the entire top order failed to perform, Rahane remained composed, exhibited a great deal of decorum, and, along with Shardul Thakur, formed a crucial partnership that gave India hope in the middle order.

During his time at the crease, Australian bowlers attacked Rahane aggressively, resulting in the 35-year-old receiving numerous body strikes. During the process, he injured his finger, but according to the cricketer, it will not hinder him during the second innings.

Ajikye Rahane, who was absent from the Test squad for a lengthy period of time, has already demonstrated his ability in the middle but aspires to improve. He added that the team’s goal was to score between 320 and 330, but he is satisfied with where they are at the end of Day 3.

“A painful but manageable injury to his finger.” When asked about his injury, Rahane responded, “I don’t believe it will impact my batting.” “I’m pleased with how I batted. Have a good evening. We had hoped for a score between 320 and 330, but the day went well overall,” he added.

I still believe pitching will assist seam bowlers. Ajikye Rahane

India’s failure to field Ravichandran Ashwin in the WTC final is still a major talking point, particularly with the ball turning on Day 3. However, Rahane, who helped India win the historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in 2020–21, believes that the pitch will aid the pacers in the remaining two days. The middle-order batsman also praised Ravindra Jadeja’s excellent spell at the conclusion of Day 3’s play.

“Bowling wise, we bowled well. Everyone contributed. Jadeja bowled exceptionally well, and his footmarks aided him against the left-handed batsman. Rahane still believes the pitch will aid seam bowlers.

Australia leads by 296 runs after Day 3 of the match. India must do something extraordinary on the pitch to turn things around, and the senior batsmen will bear a great deal of responsibility to accomplish this.
