“You need to play more freely in big games,” says Harbhajan Singh to India’s top order after the first innings of the WTC Final was a loss.

India is in trouble in the ICC World Test Championship final for 2023. At the end of Day 2, they were 151/5 and Ajinkya Rahane and Srikar Bharat were at the wicket. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli, all big names in India’s top order, failed to score big runs as they fell like a house of cards against Australia’s powerful seam bowling attack.

Harbhajan Singh, a former India spinner, said that the team doesn’t lack anything in terms of skills when he talked about how India did. But in the big games, they need to play more easily, which will help them win a few cups.

“In terms of skills, there is nothing missing. The better you get at the big games, the more you play them. In these big games, I think you need to play with more freedom. I think we’re getting too close. IndiaToday quoted Harbhajan Singh as saying, “I have to play more freely and not worry about the results.”

“The idea is to make them feel like they can do their best even if they don’t do well. So, we might be able to lift a few cups. Just play without being afraid,” he said.

India hasn’t won an ICC title since they won the Champions Cup in England in 2013. After that, they made it to the semi-finals or better in every ICC event except the T20 World Cup in 2021. But they haven’t won an ICC title because they haven’t done well on the big stage.

India wants to dodge a follow-on against Australia on Day 3.
India, on the other hand, has a tough job ahead of them if they want to avoid the follow-on in the current final and make a challenging score in the first inning. The top team in the world wouldn’t want to lose their second straight final since they lost the first WTC final to New Zealand by 8 runs in 2021.

On the other hand, Australia has a good chance of becoming the first team to win all of the ICC awards. They have already won five ODI World Cups, two Champions Awards, and one T20 World Cup.
