The World Cup 2023 schedule will be released as soon as possible, according to ICC CEO Geoff Allardice.

Geoff Allardice, chief executive officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), confirmed that the global governing body of cricket will publish the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup schedule as soon as feasible. India is scheduled to host the One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament, which will likely be played from October 5 to November 19, 2023.

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently stated that the World Cup schedule will be announced during the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia at the Oval in London. On the other hand, Allardice resisted adhering to Shah’s timeline.

According to Allardice, the ICC must discuss the schedule with all participating teams and broadcasters. He added that the board will disseminate the schedule as soon as possible after each meeting.

“We may receive the itinerary from the hosts as early as today (Wednesday), and we just need to consult with all the participating teams and the broadcasters. Then that will be published as soon as possible. When we organise events, we work closely with the hosts, Allardice was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

The CEO of the ICC was also asked if Pakistan’s willingness to play in India had anything to do with the apparent delay in announcing fixtures. He refuted the claim, stating that the ICC events team has extensive experience organising cricket tournaments in many countries and that they manage what they have authority over. He continued by stating that this is the team’s stance and that they are concentrating on moving the event forward.

“Until I see the itinerary… I’m waiting, and I’m hopeful to hear something within the next two days. Our events team has extensive experience organising cricket tournaments in a variety of countries, and you have control over what you control.

“I believe that is the approach that our team is adopting, and they are working on the things that can be improved for the competition. As soon as we have that information, we’ll move quickly,” the ICC’s chief executive officer added.
