Because the majority of Australia’s players prepared for an extended format, they have a chance to win the WTC Final: Brad Hogg

India and Australia will face off in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final. On Wednesday, June 7th, the match began at Kennington Oval Stadium in London. India will endeavour to win the WTC championship for the second time after losing to New Zealand in the championship’s inaugural final. As the two teams prepare for their high-stakes showdown, it will likely be intriguing to see which team ultimately wins the championship.

In a similar vein, former cricketer Brad Hogg believes Australia will defeat India in the current World Test Championship (WTC) final due to Australia’s extraordinary preparations. He asserted that his nation would triumph, implying that they are better prepared for the Test than India, giving them the advantage.

“I believe preparation will be the deciding factor in the outcome of this contest. The majority of Australia’s players have been preparing for the extended format, which is why I believe they will win this Test,” Hogg stated on his YouTube channel.

Before the WTC Final 2023, from March 31 to May 28, Indian athletes were engaged in the IPL 2023. In contrast, many Australian players competing in the WTC final, such as Pat Cummins and Steve Smith, were occupied with preparations for the ICC event and Ashes 2023. The former spinner was also perplexed by the ICC’s decision to schedule the World Test Championship final after the IPL 2023 season. He believes the ICC should have staged the match immediately following the March Test series between India and Australia.

You cannot have two teams with vastly differing preparation levels. Hogg

“It boggles my comprehension that the ICC has allowed this to occur. Both teams should have played the WTC Final immediately following their series in India. You must sustain the present momentum. You cannot have two teams with vastly differing levels of preparation entering the game,” he added.

In the meantime, India and Australia will compete for the ICC WTC trophy in 2023 after winning the WTC Final. In the most recent competition, India placed second after losing the championship match to New Zealand.
