Indian Premier League chairman Arun Singh Dhumal believes that despite the growth and popularity of other franchise-based tournaments around the globe, IPL is far ahead of other competitive leagues and that none of them can pose a threat to the cash-rich league in the near future. Notably, many IPL franchises are currently expanding into other leagues around the globe. Kolkata Knight Riders own teams in the West Indies, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States, while Mumbai Indians own teams in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. This is also true of the Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals, among others.
Arun Singh Dhumal wished all other cricketing authorities around the world success in establishing their leagues. Nonetheless, he emphasized once more that no one appears to be close to IPL’s success to date. Notably, the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League broke the global record for digital viewership.
“We do not consider anyone else to be our competition, as no other league comes close to the IPL. The Indian Express quoted Dhumal as saying, “Our best wishes to all the boards starting their own T20 leagues, but I don’t believe any of them can be a threat to the IPL.”

Before increasing the salary cap in the IPL in 2024, according to the 46-year-old, the governing body will need to meet down with all franchises and discuss their opinions. In addition, he clarified that since the 17th edition of IPL is still ten months away, they have ample time to deliberate on these matters.
Before making a decision, we must consult with franchisees and team owners. “While we still have ten months until the next IPL, a great deal of discussion will be required before something like that occurs,” Dhumal said.
The senior member of the governing body also clarified that BCCI has never considered conducting the IPL on foreign soil or assisting any cricketing organization in establishing its own league.
“It is the ICC’s responsibility to expand the game beyond its traditional strongholds. Dhumal concluded, “BCCI has helped nations in the past, but as far as a T20 league in Saudi Arabia is concerned, it is pure speculation.”
