Wriddhiman Saha should have been included in the India roster for the WTC final.

Wriddhiman Saha
Anjum Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, believes that Wriddhiman Saha should have been included in the Indian squad for the impending World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval. After the emergence of Rishabh Pant in the longer versions of the game, the veteran wicketkeeper has been sidelined.

As a result of Pant and KL Rahul’s injuries, the Indian team has entered the one-off Test with inexperienced wicketkeepers KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan. As Kishan has yet to make his Test debut for India, it is most probable that India will field Bharat in this match. Chopra believed that India should have selected Saha, who is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest wicketkeepers.

“Ishan Kishan can be a member of any team, as he has recently performed well in all formats. Management will choose who plays in the final eleven. Anjum Chopra told Mykhel that despite the fact that it is a one-off Test, he believed Wriddhiman Saha would have been a superior choice behind the wickets.

The management has informed Saha that they are looking beyond him, but this is a one-off game. Anjum Chopra
Saha was dismissed from the Test squad at the end of 2021 due to his advanced age and the emergence of Pant. In the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy, he scored 313 runs at an average of 52.16, including a hundred and two half-centuries for Tripura.

“I am aware that he has been informed that the team management is looking beyond him, but it is only one game and you are overlooking his wealth of expertise. Chopra added, “Taking nothing away from Ishan and Srikar Bharat, it would not have been a bad decision because English conditions could have been challenging for youngsters in a high-pressure WTC Final.”
