I see no cause for concern regarding batting or bowling heading into the WTC final: Sarandeep Singh

Prior to the final of the World Test Championship, former India selector Sarandeep Singh stated that India’s batting and bowling appear to be in order. In the recently concluded IPL 2023, notable performers included Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, while Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli wrought havoc with the bat. Consequently, the Indian team will be optimistic about their prospects.

On the other hand, the 43-year-old believes that Umesh Yadav should replace Shardul Thakur in the championship match. Yadav’s increased speed and reverse swing abilities with the old ball are cited as the cause. Therefore, it could be advantageous for the Indian team while competing at the Oval.

Sarandeep Singh was quoted by NDTV as saying, “I’m picking Umesh over Shardul because he has more pace and can reverse the old ball; he can be very useful on that Oval pitch.”

All of India’s batters are in excellent form heading into the one-off match, which is encouraging for the team. I have no concerns about the batting or bowling heading into the final. They are all in form. Yes, the conditions in England will be difficult as usual, and they will switch from Twenty20 mode to Test mode,” he continued.

“The weather can fluctuate daily, and India will need to adjust. Facing bowlers such as Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood presents a formidable obstacle, but we have a world-class batting attack. “Only Shubman has not played extensively in England, but he is in the form of his life and should do well there,” Singh added.

In the WTC final, Sarandeep Singh favors KS Bharat over Ishan Kishan.

The former cricketer also suggested that KS Bharat should replace Ishan Kishan in the WTC final due to the latter’s lack of experience batting in the middle order. He also described Bharat as a competent Test wicketkeeper and believes he should be given the chance.

“KS Bharat certainly. As we saw at home against Australia, he is a true Test match wicketkeeper, and he performed admirably. He has been around for some time and should be given the chance. Ishan is a starter. I am not claiming that he is incapable of playing Test cricket. He is a future star, but he bats first in limited-overs cricket. Things will be different at the sixth level. “Yes, he plays aggressively from the first ball, which can be counterproductive in England, but Bharat can also bat well and play shots,” Sarandeep argued.
