Is that a justification for 4-0? Mitchell Starc responds to Stuart Broad's 'void series' remark regarding the previous Ashes by stating, 'Dunno.'

With the conclusion of the Ashes series imminent, the psychological games have already begun. Mitchell Starc, a veteran Australian pacer, has now issued a statement regarding Stuart Broad’s “a void series” remark. Mitchell Starc disputed Broad’s claim by claiming that the England team had access to the best equipment and surroundings during the previous Ashes when they visited Australia.

The pandemic afflicted the majority of series played at the time, and the previous edition of the Ashes series was played under similar conditions. Australia swept the Ashes by a score of 4-0. Broad had previously stated that the previous Ashes series was subpar due to the pandemic-induced restrictions. The 36-year-old had already given up on the series because of the lack of standard training facilities, travel, and his inability to socialize.

Ashes cricket is an elite sport with a great deal of passion and players at the peak of their game. Due to the restrictions imposed by COVID, there was no high-level performance in any aspect of this series. The training facilities, the travel, and the inability to interact with others. “I’ve given up on the series,” Broad said previously.

The British had a pool and a gym.

Mitchell Starc cited this statement when he claimed that England’s players received a number of amenities during that tour because the English team was required to remain on the Gold Coast. There was a gym and a pool at that resort, and the England team was not restricted to their accommodations; they were even allowed to bring their families.

They were in a Gold Coast resort with a pool and a gym, trained at Metricon (now Heritage Bank Stadium), were not confined to their accommodations, and had their families with them. Was there truly a quarantine? On tour, they were still permitted to play golf. Is that a justification for 4-0? Dunno.

“It was a pretty enjoyable series to be a part of,” Mitchell Starc told Sydney Morning Herald.

On June 16, 2023, England and Australia will square off in the inaugural Ashes Test. Prior to that, both teams will engage in distinct Test match activities. On June 7, 2023, Australia will face India in the Final of the ICC World Test Championship, while England will play Ireland at Lord’s Cricket Ground in a four-day Test match.
