If India doesn’t come to Pakistan, it’s easy for us to say we won’t come to India: Najam Sethi

If India doesn't come to Pakistan, it's easy for us to say we won't come to India: Najam Sethi

The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, said something simple about the team’s plans to tour India for the upcoming ODI World Cup in October. The head of the top board also said that he was worried about Pakistan getting the rights to host the Champions Trophy in 2025.

The BCCI and the PCB have been fighting over who gets to host the Asia Cup in 2023. This is not a secret. This is because of the ongoing tension between the boards.

Sethi said that the Men in Green wouldn’t go to the neighboring country for the big ODI event if India didn’t tour Pakistan.

“Besides the Asia Cup, I’m also worried about the World Cup and the Champions Trophy. India can also choose not to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and ask for the game to be held somewhere else. “If India doesn’t go to Pakistan, it’s easy for us to say we won’t go to India,” Sethi told The News.

Najam Sethi showed the hybrid model for a good answer.

Notably, BCCI secretary Jay Shah flatly refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. In response, the PCB started working on a “hybrid model” so that the ACC event could be held in Pakistan but India’s games could be played at a neutral site. Sethi also said that the ACC agrees that the hybrid plan is the best way to deal with the problem.

“We put forward the combination model to find a good way to solve this problem. The ACC also thinks it is a better way to deal with this problem,” he said.

But, according to sources, both the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) agree that the Asia Cup should be moved to a neutral location. Even though the ACC hasn’t officially said anything about it yet, we’ll see what happens.
