I dislike the term anchor because everyone plays the game differently: Liam Livingstone

Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, recently stated that the function of an anchor is dwindling in the shortest format of cricket. In the ongoing IPL 2023, many players, including KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey, and Mayank Agarwal, have been scrutinized for the same reason, as their strike rates have been a significant topic of discussion.

Liam Livingstone, an international cricketer for England, has stated that he dislikes the term “anchor” because every cricketer prefers to play a distinct style of the game. The 29-year-old also mentioned that each player has a distinct position within the team and that they ultimately adhere to the management’s plan.

“It depends on each team; everybody plays the game in a very different way. I don’t like the term anchor either. According to The Indian Express, Livingstone was quoted as saying, “Every team has different players, and it is essential for each player to play a crucial role in the team’s strategy.”

It’s great to be back playing. Liam Livingstone

Livingstone was unable to join the Punjab Kings at the beginning of the current season due to a knee injury that kept him out of action for a considerable amount of time. Nonetheless, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) eventually granted him an NOC. He already played a brilliant inning against the Mumbai Indians earlier in the season.

Livingstone stated that he is pleased to be back and is currently appreciating his game. He also evaluated his team’s performance thus far in the lucrative league.

“It feels good to be participating again. It has been a while since I last played, but the time off has allowed me to reflect and improve my game, and it is wonderful to be back relishing cricket.

“There have been many ups and downs. Throughout the season, we have played some excellent cricket but lost crucial moments. Now that we must win three consecutive games, everyone is eager for what lies ahead,” Livingstone added.
