Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are invited to attend board meetings by the ECB.

The newly appointed chairman, Richard Thompson, has extended his invitation to the England captains to attend board meetings, demonstrating the ECB’s commitment to maintaining an open culture at the highest level. The most recent endeavor has been launched to inform the highest levels of hierarchy on how the game works. Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Heather Knight, England’s red-ball, limited-overs, and women’s captains, are all invited to future board meetings because they have already attended at least one board meeting in the past.

Rob Key, the managing director of England, will attend the meeting in addition to the national captains, although he won’t be allowed to vote on the issues brought up, as Andrew Strauss did before his recent resignation. In an effort to enhance the number of cricket figures on the board, Richard Thompson devised the maneuver.

The ECB is considering long-term, lucrative contracts for national cricketers.
Since being hired in September of last year, Thompson has changed a lot about the board, replacing eight of the jobs and adding four new ones. It’s thought that his choice to invite the England captains to the board meeting may have had an impact on how the board interacts with the players.

At a time when franchise cricket is at its strongest, it may potentially change the game for the board. In an effort to provide more lucrative contracts to the well-known players and secure their services for the national team for a number of years, the board is also considering revisions to the core contracts.

Ben Stokes and Buttler are both now providing their skills to the IPL teams of the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, respectively.

Both of them are known to have a significant impact on local cricketers and could improve the ECB’s relationship with its players.
