The Rajasthan Cricket Association is reportedly accused of submitting fraudulent GST invoices to the CGST department.

On Friday, May 5, the renowned Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur will host the third match of the IPL 2023 between the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans.

Nonetheless, the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has been accused of forgery prior to the match.

After receiving a notice from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department on Thursday, May 4 for fraudulently claiming an input tax credit of Rs 22 crore, the RCA’s transactions are being investigated. According to reports, the administration of the Rajasthan Royals is also under scrutiny.

According to a report in News18, the Rajasthan Cricket Association expeditiously deposited INR 10 crore with the Central Goods and Services Tax Department following the notice. The CGST team is presently conducting extensive research into the matter.

Notably, Sawai Mansingh Stadium underwent construction worth INR 22 crore in preparation for the IPL 2023. Moreover, the report alleges that the Rajasthan Cricket Association and the Rajasthan Royals evaded taxes, and the CGST team launched an investigation after learning of this.

During the investigation, tax evasion in the amount of crores of rupees was discovered in documents pertaining to the distribution of complimentary match tickets. However, according to some sources, the Rajasthan Cricket Association and the Rajasthan Royals issued GST invoices for the stadium’s construction and the complimentary permits distributed prior to the IPL match.

During the CGST department’s investigation, the majority of these currencies were discovered to be counterfeit. Since Thursday evening, in response to the startling revelation, the CGST department is investigating the RCA and Rajasthan Royals management.

If found culpable, the Rajasthan Cricket Association and Rajasthan Royals Management will likely face severe repercussions, including possible arrest. Both the Rajasthan Cricket Association and the Central Goods and Services Tax Department have declined to comment.
