“There is no assurance” is the response of the Ashes AI program when James Anderson and Stuart Broad ask “how to get Steve Smith out.”

Australia and England will square off at Edgbaston on June 16, 2023, to begin the Ashes 2023. Prior to the highly anticipated series, both camps are developing plans and strategies to counter the opposition’s finest players. James Anderson and Stuart Broad, stepping up their preparations for the Ashes, were observed asking an AI bot how to dismiss Steve Smith, a famous Australian batter.

The AI began by stating that removing Steve Smith could be difficult. The bot also suggested assaulting Smith with bouncers and setting up attacking fields.

In a video shared by the Sky Sports Twitter account, the AI bot concluded, “It’s important to note that Steve Smith is an exceptional batter, so even with these strategies, there’s no guarantee of getting him out,” which caused Broad to snicker.
Notably, Smith is the fifth-highest run scorer in the history of the Ashes, having scored 3044 runs in 32 matches with an average of 59.68, including 11 hundreds and 11 fifties. In the final Ashes series in England in 2019, the former Australian captain scored 774 runs at an average of 110.57 in only seven innings upon his return to Test cricket following a one-year suspension.

In the upcoming series, Smith will want to be a thorn in England’s side once again, so their premier spinners are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations to get him out cheaply.

Australia currently holds the Ashes ‘urn’ after defeating England 4-0 at home in the most recent series. Under Brendon McCullum’s leadership, England’s ‘Bazball’-style Test cricket is anticipated to make the upcoming series significantly more competitive. Ben Stokes’ “Three Lions” have won 10 of their last 12 Test matches and are getting ready to defeat their oldest rivals in the Ashes.
