The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has rescheduled their impending series against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh was scheduled to host two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is against Afghanistan during their home series in June 2023. Nevertheless, the schedule has been altered, and one test match has been canceled.
The BCB cited a constrained schedule as the reason why both teams only played one Test match as opposed to two. With the ODI World Cup scheduled for the latter half of 2023, the BCB’s cricket operations chairperson, Jalal Yunus, recommended that one test be canceled in order to better prepare for the tournament.
“We will play one Test in addition to Twenty20 Internationals and One-Day Internationals. We have reduced the number of tests from two to one due to our tight timetable (ahead of the upcoming World Cup). We will play the second test at a later date, but for the time being, we are only playing one,” Yunus was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

In addition, the BCB has been planning a 10-day exercise in either Bangalore or the United Arab Emirates. However, they have been unable to finalize the program due to the lack of a World Cup schedule. If future overseas training could be ruled out, the team could commence preparations at home.
“Look, since India is the host country, the ICC will prepare the schedule with their assistance. We are awaiting the schedule because we do not know where we will be playing, and once we have that, we will know where we stand (in terms of preparation),” Yunus said.
In addition, the BCB cricket operations chairman mentioned the Asia Cup, which could occur prior to the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. Consequently, the size of the team’s training program will depend on the amount of space available prior to the mega-event. With BCCI’s recent rejection of the hybrid model proposal, it will be intriguing to see whether or not the Asia Cup will proceed.
“The training camp is dependent on the schedule, and if we had known the date, we could have planned accordingly. As you are all aware, before that we have the Asia Cup, and after that we won’t have much time. We require the schedule as soon as possible in order to plan our preparations for the upcoming tournament,” he concluded.
