On April 29, the International Cricket Council (ICC) honored Aleem Dar of Pakistan for his outstanding career as an Elite Panel Umpire at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Before the second of the five-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand, he was honored.
He received a souvenir from ICC authorities that featured some of the photographs taken of him throughout his professional career. The keepsake also featured images of the notable competitions he has presided over throughout his career.
Aleem Dar was honored for his excellent career as an ICC Elite Panel Umpire at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, according to ICC, which shared photos of the occasion on Twitter.
On March 16, 2023, Dar, who officiated 435 men’s international games, announced his retirement from the ICC elite panel. He presided over Bangladesh vs. Ireland’s one-off Test match in April, which served as his farewell contest as an Elite panel umpire. Both sides presented him with a Guard of Honour at the conclusion of the game, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also gave him a souvenir.
Aleem Dar announced his retirement and was replaced as an International Cricket Council umpire by fellow countryman Ahsan Raza. Since the top panel’s creation in 2002, Dar, 54, has officiated 144 Test matches, 222 one-day internationals, and 69 T20 matches. Between 2009 and 2011, he received the ICC Umpire of the Year award three times in a row.
After announcing his retirement in March, he reminisced on his time as an international umpire and said he had loved every second of it. He continued by saying that what he has accomplished is beyond his wildest ambitions and that he has had the pleasure and honor of officiating games all around the world.
“Even though the journey was long, I thoroughly loved it. I have had the pleasure and honor of officiating all over the world, and what I have accomplished is beyond anything I could have imagined when I first entered the field.
“Although I still want to work as an international umpire, I thought that, after 19 years on the road, it was time to leave the Elite panel and give someone from the International Panel a chance. As reported by India Today, he had added, “My message to umpires.
