The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former head coach Mickey Arthur as the men’s cricket team’s new director. Just in time for the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the South African coach returns to the team.
Mickey Arthur would be responsible for devising, implementing, and supervising the Pakistan men’s team’s tactics in his new position. The 54-year-old will also serve as a member of the coaching staff during the 50-over World Cup in India, the home series against the West Indies, and the tour to Australia. He will also be a member of the Pakistani squad when they compete in the Asia Cup.
Mickey Arthur expressed his delight at rejoining the Pakistan cricket team and emphasized his eagerness to contribute to the squad. He continued by stating that Pakistan’s team is gifted and has the potential to be the best in all formats. In the future, he believes he could enhance their performances and coax the best out of them.
“I am ecstatic to rejoin the Pakistan cricket team and eager to engage with the group. “Since leaving, I have followed the players and their collective performances,” said Mickey Arthur.
“This is a talented group with the potential to be number one in all formats, and my goal is to implement strategies and create an environment that will contribute to further enhancing their performances so that we can get the most out of them,” he added.
I am confident that Mickey will incorporate lessons from his first term in order to have an even more successful second term. Sethi PCB chairman Najam Sethi also welcomed Arthur back into the coaching setup, expressing his delight that Arthur had returned to a more prominent position with the Pakistan men’s cricket team. He believes that the South African will implement the lessons from his first term and have an even more successful second term.
Sethi stated, “I am pleased that Mickey has rejoined the Pakistan men’s cricket team with an expanded role in which he will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategies for the upcoming matches in all formats.”
“Having previously lived and worked in Pakistan, Mickey is intimately familiar with the contemporary players, the structure, and the system. Sethi added, “I am confident that he will incorporate lessons from his first term in order to have an even more successful second term.”
