During the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) versus Punjab Kings (PBKS) match at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on April 20, 2019, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli notched his 100th thirty-plus score in the tournament.
Sam Curran, the stand-in captain for PBKS, won the toss and elected to send the visiting team in to bat first after winning the match. Faf du Plessis has a rib injury and will not play due to treatment, so Virat Kohli captained the RCB in his absence.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli made history by becoming the first player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to score 100 or more thirty-plus scores in the tournament. Virat Kohli surpassed yet another remarkable benchmark when he reached 600 fours in the competition. The right-handed batsman assumed the role of captain after 556 days, as his last captaincy was on October 11, 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner are the top two players on the list.
Notably, the permanent captain of the Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan, is on the list, having scored thirty or more runs 91 times. David Warner, captain of the Delhi Capitals, has 90 such scores and is third on the elite list behind Dhawan and Kohli.
Virat Kohli reached the historic benchmark in 221 innings, while Dhawan retains the record with 209 innings.
In only 167 T20 innings, Warner has scored 90 or more runs in the lucrative T20 competition. Rohit Sharma, captain of India and the Mumbai Indians (MI), is fourth on the list with 85 such scores in 227 innings in the premier league, while Suresh Raina, formerly of the Chennai Super Kings, is fifth with 77 such scores in 200 innings.
