Shahrukh Khan reflects on his performance against LSG: “Really feeling good, Raza played brilliantly, and he set me up.”

On Saturday, April 15, the 21st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) featured a heated contest between the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow. Lucknow elected to bat first after losing the toss, and captain KL Rahul delivered after a series of subpar performances by his standards. The 30-year-old scored 74 runs in 56 deliveries, and his innings were crucial to the home team’s first-inning total of 159 runs.

As Punjab entered the field to pursue the target, the team did not get off to the best of starts, losing several wickets early on. However, following Sikandar Raza’s magnificent fifty, the onus fell on 27-year-old Shahrukh Khan to end the game and propel the Sam Curran-led team to victory. He excelled, scoring 23 runs off of 10 deliveries to win the game for his team.

Shahrukh Khan reflected on the significance of Raza’s innings, which set up the game for him, when discussing his performance. “Feeling extremely confident after the first inning, it was crucial to play a par game (in the pursuit). Raza played magnificently and put me up for success. Shahrukh Khan stated in the post-match presentation, “My mentality was simply to maintain possession of the ball, and the practice is paying off.”

Continuing in the same vein, the 27-year-old discussed his playing approach and his confidence in finishing the game and securing the victory for Punjab in the final over.

“Because I’m strong, sly shots don’t work for me, so I strive to hit straight, and it’s beneficial to use my muscles. I told Brar to go for the big hit since it was the fifth and final ball of the over. Unfortunately, he was run out, but I was confident I could finish off the innings in the final over,” he concluded.

Punjab Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants, prevailing by two wickets and climbing to fourth place in the IPL standings with six points from five games. On the other hand, Lucknow is also in second place with six points after five encounters.
