Harpreet Singh Bhatia surpasses the record for the longest time between two IPL matches in IPL 2023.

Harpreet Singh Bhatia, a 31-year-old veteran Indian cricketer for the Punjab Kings, entered the record records when he was selected for the IPL 2023 match against the Lucknow Super Giants. This is his first appearance in the competition this year and his first appearance in the competition since 2012, the longest delay between two IPL matches for any player.

Harpreet Singh Bhatia, who represented India at the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, was recruited by the IPL’s defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in 2010.

In 2011, he joined the no longer existing Pune Warriors India. Following Sarfaraz Khan’s injury in 2017, the Royal Challengers Bangalore hired Harpreet Singh , a seasoned player on the domestic circuit, but he did not play for the team.

Although the 31-year-old cricketer from Chattisgarh has not been given enough opportunities to demonstrate his talent in the prestigious tournament, he entered the record books after making his début for Punjab Kings against LSG. This makes him the athlete with the longest gap between two IPL matches, surpassing Matthew Wade’s previous record of 3962 days.

In the IPL 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and LSG, he made his first appearance after a 3242-day absence. With 2899 days between his two IPL appearances, his countryman Rilee Rossouw is in fourth position.

Colin Ingram is in fifth place with a gap of 2862 days between his last two IPL appearances. Shreevats Goswami, a diminutive Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, has the second-longest delay for an Indian player, with 2181 days between his two IPL appearances.
