"Rohit Sharma took the initiative and it will benefit him much," - Ravi Shastri following MI's first IPL 2023 victory

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma played some outstanding cricket against the Delhi Capitals on April 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to enable the five-time winners to secure their first victory of the IPL 2023 season. Mumbai went on to win the match by six wickets, as the opener scored 65 runs off 45 deliveries while chasing 173 runs.

According to former India cricketer Ravi Shastri, the 35-year-old set an excellent example during his performance, and this innings will keep him in a positive frame of mind during the upcoming matches.

Because older players are capable of doing this, “he soaked up the pressure. He stated in the previous game that it’s crucial to step up to the party because they have expertise dealing with those scenarios. Shastri was cited by Star Sports as saying, “He led from the front and it will do him the world of good, captaining the side as the tournament proceeds.

Mumbai’s situation was not looking good after losing two straight games against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. While Suryakumar Yadav is currently having a nightmare, Rohit Sharma was not in great shape. More importantly, though, they were able to win their first game of the campaign, and according to Shastri, they may now proceed to win an additional two to three games because they’ve previously done something similar.

“With the Mumbai Indians, we’ve already observed that once they get going, they can win two to three games straight. It’s crucial to win this game, and the way they handled the pressure in the last few overs could help them moving forward, said the 60-year-old.

At Wankhede Stadium on April 16, Mumbai will play host to the two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders.
