Afghanistan will reportedly tour India following the World Test Championship final in June.

After the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Afghanistan will most likely fly to India. India and Australia will play in the World Tennis Championship final beginning on June 7 at London’s The Oval. Incidentally, after losing to New Zealand in the inaugural WTC final, this would be India’s second consecutive WTC final.

In June, Afghanistan is anticipated to travel to India for a little vacation after the World Test Championship championship.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) should make an official announcement soon, however the specifics of Afghanistan’s trip of India are still vague. Notably, India will visit the West Indies in July for two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is instead of the three previously scheduled games.

After the World Test Championship final (held at The Oval in London from June 7–11), the Afghanistan cricket team will go to India for a brief tour, a BCCI source familiar with the matter confirmed to The Times of India.

When Afghanistan recently paid a one-off Test match visit to India in June 2018, the hosts trounced them by an innings and 262 runs over the course of two days. The Afghanistan national cricket team has formerly had home bases in grounds in Greater Noida, Dehradun, and Lucknow. The BCCI will show its support for cricket in Afghanistan even after the Taliban takeover in August 2021 if the tour between the two countries goes ahead, which will be a big development.

After an ICC Board meeting, it was decided that the Taliban, not the ACB, is to blame, maintaining Afghanistan’s status as a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Notably, in order to be granted full membership in the ICC, a nation must have a working women’s team, and the women’s game has not received much attention under the current Taliban administration. The working group also stated that the ACB has no control over women’s cricket in Afghanistan.
