New Zealand vs. Sri Lanka: 2nd Test makes history, 2500th game overall

Test cricket, which lasts the longest, reached a milestone on March 17. The second Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is going on at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. This is the 2500th Test in Test cricket history. So far, 2499 Tests have been played. 1711 different teams have won games from this total.

At Hagley Oval, the first Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was played, and New Zealand won by two wickets. In the two-game series, the team under Tim Southee is ahead 1-0. Notably, Sri Lanka lost the chance to be in the World Test Championship final on June 7, which was a big deal.

In the second Test, Sri Lanka won the toss and asked New Zealand to bat first. At the end of Day 1, the home team was at 155 for two.

Test cricket, which lasts five long days, is the most difficult way to play the game. In the second Test of the two-match series, New Zealand and Sri Lanka played each other. This was an important moment in history. The 2500th Test match ever played was the second match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

1711 teams have won out of the 2499 Tests that have been played, and 3120 players have played for their countries. There have been 4390 centuries, and 77,314 wickets have been taken.

Sachin Tendulkar is a famous Indian cricketer who has played in 200 games and hit 51 centuries in Test cricket. He holds the record for the most centuries. The master blaster is also the player who has scored the most runs, with 15,921 in 329 innings. Muttiah Muralitharan, a great cricketer from Sri Lanka, has taken out the most wickets in Tests (800) than anyone else.

Donald Bradman, an Australian, is thought to be the best batsman of all time. He has the highest batting average (99.94), and George Lohmann, an Englishman, has the best bowling average.
