Abhishek Sharma broke Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest half-century in Twenty20 International cricket with the support of Ravichandran Ashwin. In the third Twenty20 International against New Zealand on Sunday, January 25, at the Barabati Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the 25-year-old Indian opener came very close to shattering the record.
At the 2007 T20 World Cup, Yuvraj made history by smashing a half-century off of 12 balls against England at Kingsmead in Durban. In T20I cricket, this still stands as the fastest fifty. Abhishek reached his half-century in just 14 balls on Sunday, which is no small accomplishment.
Abhishek Sharma stated after the game that it is “almost impossible” to surpass Yuvraj’s record. The child was being modest, according to Ashwin, and he has a lot of potential to improve on the performance.
“A statement was made by our friend Abhishek Sharma. He claimed that beating Yuvraj Paji’s fifty off of twelve balls would be extremely challenging. I’m telling you, Abhishek, to stop being so modest. I agree that speaking in a humble manner is appreciated in India. Don’t be so modest, though. On his YouTube channel, Ashwin stated, “I’m telling you, Abhishek won’t say it himself, but whoever breaks Yuvraj Paji’s record in the near future, it will be Abhishek Sharma.”
Ashwin on Abhishek Sharma : He is God’s own child
Abhishek Sharma received a lot of appreciation from Ashwin for his ability to follow his gut and maintain his aggressive style even when wickets were falling from the opposite end. The former Indian spinner added that Abhishek’s incredible bat stroke and power game are causing even mistimed shots to go for sixes.
“Abhishek Sharma is scoring fifty runs in just fourteen balls while batting at an amazing level during the powerplay. He is striking long sixes with his batting style, even when wickets are falling. He smacked a straight six in Guwahati yesterday, and he was staring at his bat afterward. He was staring at the bottom of the bat, after all. This indicates that even though the ball struck the bat’s bottom, it still hit a six. His batting style and bat swing are simply incredible. This man is God’s own kid, after all. What compliment can I even give him, I tell you? He continued, “His batting style is incredible.”
