On Sunday, January 18, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, Rohit Sharma will play New Zealand in the series decider, and former India opener Aakash Chopra expects to see him reach a century. Despite starting the first two games, the former captain of India was dismissed for 26 and 24 at Vadodara and Rajkot, respectively.
Chopra pointed out that while the pitch is usually level and the ground is on the smaller side, the conditions in Indore will be ideal for hitters.
Since India won’t be playing ODI cricket for the next six months, the former cricket player turned analyst wants Rohit Sharma to score a century.
“They’re heading to Indore. There, the pitch is quite flat and the ground is small. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Chopra said, “All I want to say is that Rohit Sharma should score a century in this match because there is no ODI cricket for six months.”
Rohit and Kohli will both be busy in the upcoming months as they play for their respective Indian Premier League teams, according to Aakash Chopra. In the third ODI, he hopes to see both cricket players score a lot of runs.
“Virat Kohli will now be seen wearing the red, gold, and black of the RCB, while he will only be seen wearing the blues of the Mumbai Indians. They won’t appear in Indian hues until July. Thus, leave pleasant memories behind. He said, “Whoever gets a start should play long.”
I believe Ravindra Jadeja’s time is running out: Aakash Chopra
Given his recent poor performance in ODI cricket, Chopra believes Ravindra Jadeja is under some pressure. The great all-rounder was informed by the former of the significance of the third ODI.
“Just keep KL Rahul at number five. There isn’t much room for improvement and you shouldn’t make too many changes to the team. At number six, play Nitish Kumar Reddy. It seems like Ravindra Jadeja’s time is running out. Therefore, I would like him to take wickets, bowl well, and score runs,” he stated.
Although Aakash Chopra believes that India’s fast-bowling unit has performed rather well, he believes that the spinners should be more inventive, particularly when facing the formidable Daryl Mitchell.
“New Zealand is doing a great job playing against spin. They performed excellent sweeps and played efficiently off the back foot. We are admitting that we are unable to provide Daryl Mitchell with a response. When it comes to spin bowling, a little more ingenuity will be needed. Chopra noted, “The fast bowling has been decent.”
