Shikhar Dhawan, a former opener for India, has declared his engagement to Sophie Shine. On January 12, the announcement was posted on Instagram. On May 1st of last year, Dhawan and Sophie Shine announced their relationship, putting an end to months of rumours about the southpaw’s personal life.

In February, Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie are scheduled to get married.
In the meantime, Shine, an Irish professional, is employed by Northern Trust Corporation, a US-based financial services company, as a Second Vice President, Product Consultant. Sophie, who is based in Abu Dhabi, finished her education at Castleroy College in Ireland and has a degree in marketing and management from the Limerick Institute of Technology. Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie reportedly became friends before they started dating after meeting in the United Arab Emirates. Notably, Sophie is connected to the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation and participates in charitable endeavours.
Following a difficult time in his personal life, Dhawan got engaged. The former Indian opener discussed the emotional toll of his divorce from Aesha Mukherjee, which was formalised in October 2023 following an 11-year marriage, in February 2025. When granting the divorce, the Delhi court noted that Dhawan had experienced emotional stress, especially as a result of his extended separation from his son Zoravar. The cricket player later disclosed that communication had been barred, despite being given visitation rights and video-call access, making the period upsetting for him.
Several reports state that Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie would get married in February, most likely during the third week of the month in the Delhi-NCR area. Bollywood celebrities and cricket players are anticipated to attend the ceremony, which is allegedly in the planning stages.
