A reporter’s inquiry on India’s efficacy with the new ball without players like Jasprit Bumrah leading the lineup infuriated Harshit Rana. After India won by four wickets at the Kotambi Stadium on January 11 with six deliveries remaining, Harshit Rana voiced his thoughts.
The journalist had told Harshit that without Bumrah in the ODI XI, Indian bowling has had trouble striking early.
“We can see that there is an issue with Indian bowling in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. The wickets are not coming readily with the new ball. According to NDTV Sports, the reporter asked, “So, what’s the reason for that?” during the post-match conference.
Mohammed Siraj bowled excellently, and the bowling assault effectively restrained the run flow, Harshit Rana said.
“I’m not sure which cricket you’ve seen. If you look at it today, Siraj has bowled really well, even if we haven’t taken any wickets. With the new ball, we haven’t even conceded any runs. It’s not like that, either. Rana observed, “It’s like you’ll take them out in the middle if you don’t get wickets with the new ball.”
Harshit Rana added that the team management has sought to develop him as an all-around player during the same press conference. In addition, the bowler acknowledged that Harshit has been practicing his batting in the nets and gave the veteran KL Rahul credit for mentoring him while he was in the middle.
Harshit Rana performed admirably in the middle. In his ten overs during the first innings, he claimed two wickets. After that, he made a significant contribution with a 29-run knock off 23 deliveries, including two fours and a six.
Rajkot (January 14) will host the second ODI, while Indore (January 18) will host the third. Soon, the Men in Blue will try to complete the series.
