“The Kiwis are determined to perform well in the white-ball matches against India and are not letting the subsequent T20 World Cup work as a distraction,” stated star batsman Daryl Mitchell. Beginning this week, the Blackcaps will take on the Men in Blue in three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.
Mitchell is excited about the opportunity to play a “world-class” Indian squad in their own grounds. The right-handed batsman, who made an incredible century against India in the 2023 ODI World Cup, also gave Indian bowlers Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah high marks.
In a month, we’ll examine the T20 World Cup. We’ll focus on playing an ODI series against India for the time being, and they have some decent bowlers themselves, including Bumrah and Chakaravarthy,” Mitchell told reporters at TCM Sports’ New Zealand Cricket’s Golf Day.
“Being where we are, which entails being in the present and aware of the challenge at hand, is a really important value for the New Zealand cricket team. The thrilling part is that we will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in front of packed spectators against the elite Indian team under Indian conditions.
We will thus be where we are. We’ll take charge of the present and anticipate the World Cup in a month,” Mitchell continued.
These sections present a significant challenge: Mitchell Mitchell stressed the necessity of adjusting to the many conditions that exist globally. He stated that he hopes to do well in the forthcoming games and draw lessons from his prior experiences playing in India.
“I’ve been playing international cricket for a little while now and as a part of playing international cricket you have to adapt to different conditions all around the world,” he stated.
“When you enter these areas, it’s quite difficult. You don’t grow up in New Zealand on surfaces like these. In order to capitalise on the positives, like the 2023 ODI World Cup, I will be able to draw on my experiences from the previous few years,” he continued.
On Sunday, January 11, India and New Zealand will play their first ODI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
