Reports that Indian presenter Ridhima Pathak was kicked off the hosting panel of the current Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) seem to have further deteriorated India-Bangladesh sporting ties.
The event was widely perceived as an additional result of the two nations’ growing diplomatic and athletic tensions. Ridhima Pathak, however, has refuted these allegations, stating that she made the decision to leave the T20 league deliberately and that the current political atmosphere was the driving force behind it.
“A story that suggests I was ‘dropped’ from the BPL has surfaced in recent hours. That isn’t accurate. I chose to opt out on my own initiative. I always put my country first. And cricket is a game that I cherish much more than any one project. I have had the honour of serving our sport with integrity, dignity, and enthusiasm for many years. That won’t alter. I’ll keep standing up for honesty, clarity, and the game’s essence. We appreciate everyone who expressed support. You don’t realise how much your messages mean. Cricket is worthy of the truth.
For a period. I have nothing more to say,” Ridhima Pathak posted on Instagram.

When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allegedly ordered the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to cut Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their roster on January 3, emotions increased even further. The government of Bangladesh retaliated by demanding that its T20 World Cup matches be transferred to Sri Lanka and by announcing a statewide ban on the Indian Premier League (IPL) broadcast.
The BCB’s bid to have its T20 World Cup matches moved out of India has been severely hampered by the ongoing dispute between the two nations. Bangladesh has reportedly been told by the International Cricket Council (ICC) that they must play their planned matches in India or risk forfeiting them.
