A rib fracture has forced top-order batsman B Sai Sudharsan to miss the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26. During the Round 1 Elite Group A match between Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad, the batter was hurt while diving to finish a run.
Sudharsan was later placed under medical supervision. The cricket player had suffered a thin, undisplaced fracture of the anterior cortex of the right seventh rib, according to scans performed later. He was consequently unable to participate in the subsequent three rounds of the current 50-over competition and is now expected to miss the rest of the competition, further complicating Tamil Nadu’s inconsistent record this season.
Details on his recuperation regimen were provided by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. The left-handed hitter, who made his Test debut in the middle of 2025, is presently recovering in Bengaluru with an emphasis on strengthening his lower body. In order to ensure a seamless return to cricket and a steady recuperation, he will shortly begin strength and conditioning exercises for his upper body.
“Sai has responded well to the program and is working on lower-body strength and conditioning exercises while providing the broken rib with the proper protection to aid in healing. After the acute symptoms subside over the course of the next seven to ten days, he will be progressively moved into a structured upper-body strength and conditioning program, according to CoE.
In the 2026 IPL, Sudharsan will represent the Gujarat Titans.
Sudharsan appears to be on track to play in the remaining Ranji Trophy rounds and the 2026 Indian Premier League despite the injury setback. While playing for the Gujarat Titans, Sudharsan won the Orange Cap the previous season. The team will be praying for a speedy recovery from Sudharsan. The 2022 champions kept a number of players, including the opener, who would try to leave their imprint in the next tournament.
