Shubman Gill Gets Haaland’s Autographed Boots

In a rare crossover, star Manchester City striker Erling Haaland gave Shubman Gill, the captain of India in Test and One-Day International matches, an autographed pair of football boots.

The two gifted athletes’ unique exchange is captured in a six-second video that has gone viral on social media. In the video, Haaland is seen giving the right-handed Indian hitter a pair of boots after signing them. The fans were in awe when they saw the two titans of different sports donning the white Nike jersey.

2025 was an interesting year for Shubman. He guided the Gujarat Titans to the playoffs in the 18th Indian Premier League (IPL) after they won the Champions Trophy in March. Shubman took Rohit’s place as India’s Test captain prior to the five-match Test series in England. Later on, he was named the ODI team’s captain.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, Shubman also returned to India’s T20I lineup.

Despite the Punjab batter’s lacklustre batting performance, the Men in Blue emerged victorious. In the Twenty20 Internationals against South Africa and Australia, he was as unsuccessful. He was left off of India’s February–March T20 World Cup roster last month.

According to reports, Shubman will play in Punjab’s upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy matches against Goa on January 6 and Sikkim on January 3.

Shubman will captain the Men in Blue in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand following his participation in India’s top 50-over tournament. On January 11, the opening ODI will take place at Vadodara’s BCA Stadium. On January 14, the second ODI will take place at Rajkot’s Niranjan Shah Stadium. The series finale between India and New Zealand is scheduled on January 18 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
