Rohit-Kohli Shine on Domestic Comeback

On the first day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26, Virat Kohli scored the game-winning goal against Andhra Pradesh, while Rohit Sharma scored an incredible century against Sikkim.

On Wednesday, December 24, Kohli destroyed the Andhra Pradesh bowling attack, which included players like India A spinner Saurabh Kumar, former Mumbai Indians pacer Satyanaraya Raju, and Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, among others, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1.

Kohli struck 131 from 101 balls while chasing a 299-run mark, hitting one six and fourteen fours. Delhi had already been within touching distance of the mark when Raju finally removed him in the 33rd over. In List-A cricket, he scored 16,000 runs during his knock.

In addition to Kohli, Nitish Rana and Priyansh Arya both struck scorching half-centuries. Another player who participated in the game, captain Rishabh Pant, was removed for five runs. With four wickets in the bank, Harsh Tyagi and Navdeep Saini ultimately led their team to victory in 37.4 overs.

However, Rohit Sharma captivated almost 12,000 spectators on Wednesday at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

On a belter of a track, the 38-year-old destroyed boundaries at will, putting the Sikkim bowlers to the test.

It took Rohit only 27 balls to reach his half-century. He picked up a three-figure score after 35 deliveries. The 38-year-old struck eight fours and as many sixes as he hit, smashing 80 of his first 100 runs in boundaries.

He went on to score 155 off just 94 balls, though, so the slaughter didn’t end there. The Nagpur native finished with a strike rate of 164.89 after hitting 18 fours and nine sixes during his knock. Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan led their team home in 30.3 overs with eight wickets remaining after he was dismissed 11 runs short of the 237-run target.

To the joy of their millions of fans worldwide, Rohit and Kohli were both named Player of the Match in the two matches.
