Recently, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik expressed his thoughts on Virat Kohli, providing a realistic and intimate look at the man outside of the spotlight of international cricket. After spending a number of years with Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and in the Indian dressing room, Karthik thought back on a partnership based on respect, trust, and high-level fighting.
Karthik concentrated on Kohli’s character, his handling of pressure, and the attitude that has characterised his lengthy and arduous career rather than on numbers or awards. The seasoned wicketkeeper emphasised how Virat Kohli skilfully strikes a balance between his aggressive on-field intensity and his laid-back, friendly manner off the pitch.
“Aside from being a fierce competitor, he’s a fun guy.” Like all of us, he is a typical human being. He is simply an exceptional world champion batter. He has a side like that. On the other hand, he is a typical Delhi-born person who tells those jokes just like any other Delhiite. Karthik stated on the Beard Before Wicket podcast, “He is a wonderful family man, and I have a great deal of respect for him. I’ve always had a very good healthy respectful relationship with him.”
Karthik further emphasised that their relationship was never based on seniority but rather on how they handled the highs and lows of their careers with the same integrity and dedication.
Indeed, I am somewhat older than him. However, the respect we have in our relationship is not due to our age gap. It’s simply the way we’ve treated each other throughout time, and we’ve experienced both appropriate highs and lows. Karthik remarked, “I think what I see in him is the boy that I see when I first meet him, and I have loved his growth in the sport.”
Karthik claims that Virat Kohli ability to take charge when the stakes are high—a talent that distinguishes him from most top athletes—has always been his defining characteristic.
He craves the big moments more than anyone else, hence I believe he is a man destined for them. Some people ask themselves, “Oh, what do I do?” when the big time arrives. Karthik stated, “And he wants that moment to be his before the game starts.”
