Aakash Chopra Slams England After 3-0 Defeat

After England’s 3-0 loss in the Ashes on Sunday, which allowed Australia to keep the urn with two games remaining, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra made fun of the team. Although they had come with a lot of confidence, England suddenly faced the possibility of losing 5-0.

In a sly jab at Ben Stokes’ team, Chopra stated that he is already anticipating the build-up to the upcoming Ashes, when Australia will host the top England team. His comment seemed to take aim at the pre-series narrative, which had characterised the current England team as the best to travel to Australia before the 2025 Ashes series, according to a number of English analysts.

Can’t wait for the build-up for the next time England goes to Australia. Surely, that’ll be the best English team to play #TheAshes.

And the English cricket fans will lap it up 🤩😇 can’t blame them either…they’ve embraced ‘entertainment’ over ‘results’ already. 😍

“I’m looking forward to the build-up for England’s upcoming trip to Australia.” That will undoubtedly be the greatest English squad to take on #TheAshes. And it will be well received by English cricket fans.

You can’t blame them either. They already prioritise “entertainment” over “results,” Aakash Chopra Slams England After 3-0 Defeat wrote on X.

After Mitchell Starc’s game-winning performance on the last day of the third Test, which saw him take three of the final four wickets to put an end to England’s valiant comeback, Australia won the Ashes on Sunday.

England started Day 5 on 207 for 6, still 228 runs short of the unlikely total of 435, but they were eventually bowled out as Australia took a 3-0 series lead. With two games remaining, the outcome guaranteed Australia’s possession of the urn.

In the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins, the hosts had already taken a 2-0 lead under stand-in captain Steve Smith, winning both Perth and Brisbane by eight wickets. Smith was unable to play because of vertigo, but Cummins made a comeback for the third Test.

With their most recent Test victory in Australia being in January 2011, England’s problems in that country persisted. Australia has dominated at home ever since, winning the series by scores of 5-0, 4-0, 4-0, and now 3-0. The Sydney Test will take place in the New Year after Melbourne hosts the Boxing Day Test on December 26.
