Jaiswal Boosts T20I Opener Case with 200+ SR Ton

In white-ball cricket, star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has recently been in excellent form. Jaiswal recently recorded his first-ever T20 century for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, following his first-ever One-Day International century against South Africa. Under the leadership of Jaiswal, Mumbai was able to overcome Haryana’s formidable 235-run mark while batting in a run-chase.

The knock comes as Shubman Gill has been struggling to get going and the batter has been left out of India’s T20I lineup for the opening position. Because of his brilliant century, the left-handed hitter is making the selectors consider him as a possible replacement.

At the DY Patil Academy in Ambi, captain Ankit Kumar (89 off 42) and Nishant Sandhu (63* off 38) put on a massive 110-run partnership that propelled Haryana to 234-3 at the end of 20 overs. With his 2-44 in four overs, Sairaj Patil was the only bowler for Mumbai to have some success; Shardul Thakur and company appeared largely incompetent during the first innings.

But Jaiswal and senior opener Ajinkya Rahane arrived at the crease with a great start.

Rahane quickly lost the 50-run partnership to Ishant Bharadwaj for a strong 21 off 10 balls. Sarfaraz Khan joined him, but it didn’t shake the Bhadohi-born kid’s confidence as he kept finding new ways to have fun.

Boundaries began to flow from both ends, and Sarfaraz played the ideal supporting role. But after a strong 64 off just 25, the No. 3 hitter left. Unfazed, Jaiswal led the assault and scored a stunning century off his 48th delivery. Despite getting out a few balls later, the attacking batsman made sure the Mumbaikars’ victory was only a formality.

Atharva Ankolekar (10* off 2) and Sairaj (8* off 3) put finishing touches as the Shardul Thakur-led team won easily with four wickets and 15 balls remaining. It should come as no surprise that Jaiswal won Player of the Match.
