David Miller, captain of the Paarl Royals, thinks that the forthcoming SA20 Season Four will be crucial to the Proteas’ readiness for the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka the following year. Before the big game, South Africa has just eight Twenty20 Internationals left. They will play current champions India in Cuttack before facing Canada in Ahmedabad on February 9, 2026.
SA20 will begin on Boxing Day at Newlands when the Proteas return from India. This will mark the beginning of a month-long T20 tournament that will take place at six venues around the country. David Miller underlined that the tournament is of a very high calibre and would assist the Proteas in honing their unique talents in preparation for the World Cup.
“I believe that the SA20 competition’s standards are on par with those of any other league in the world. In terms of preparation, I believe the players will perform in front of large audiences at home. All of the foreign players will participate. The lads will undoubtedly be put to the test, both individually and personally.
David Miller was cited by IOL as saying, “I think it’s good enough prep.”
The left-handed batter had a brief appearance in The Hundred in England before sustaining a hamstring issue, but he hasn’t played for his country since the ICC Champions Trophy in March. Now that he is completely well, he is excited to play for the Proteas again.
In actuality, I’ve had a fascinating few months. Since I’m no longer in the mix, I had a grade one hamstring injury that was a little sore for a few months. It was really wonderful to just sit at home and think about a few things,” David Miller remarked.
“By experimenting with my body and utilising a few different training regimens, I kind of moved into a different space.” In fact, it was a great opportunity to take some time to think. I therefore found it enjoyable. You must separate the good from the bad,” David Miller continued.
After spending time with his family, Miller said he feels fantastic and is excited to help the club in fresh ways at the crease. He went on to say that strengthening his gameplay will come from increasing his consistency.
“It was excellent. Of course, I also spent time with the family. I now have a small one as well. At home, a lot is happening, which is fantastic. I feel like I need to move up off the pitch now that I’m 36 years old in terms of my body’, Miller remarked.
It’s thrilling because I have to move up significantly in a lot of different areas. I’m going to put a lot of effort into getting as fit as possible and training with much greater diligence and consistency. However, I’m feeling powerful. I feel in shape. I feel like I’m ready to go,” he continued.
