Shreyas Iyer Injury Update

Midway through December, Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is scheduled for a definitive scan. When he can formally start rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru and progressively return to cricket would depend on the outcome of this evaluation.

Since sustaining a serious impact injury to his left lower rib cage during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney, Shreyas has been out. His spleen was lacerated and bleeding inside, according to preliminary scans. This damage necessitated emergency medical attention and a protracted recuperation period. On October 27, the BCCI verified that he was receiving intensive care in Sydney before being released once he had stabilised. Since then, the 31-year-old has made some improvement, but doctors’ approval is still required before he can return.

In the second week of December, Shreyas is scheduled to get an ultrasound scan, according to a story from India Today. It is anticipated that the scan would provide insight into how well his spleen and surrounding tissues are mending. Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a specialised sports medicine doctor who has managed his case, will then examine the findings and create a thorough rehabilitation strategy.

Iyer had a USG scan close to his home in the early phases of his recuperation, and Dr. Pardiwala examined the results. The medical staff let him to continue daily activities and simple isometric workouts after observing his improvement. But only once the December scan verifies full internal healing will cricket-specific training resume.

Shreyas is beginning to get ready to rejoin the team: Morkel Morne

Ruturaj Gaikwad was tested at No. 4 while he was away and even scored his first ODI century. Iyer is making good progress, according to a recent significant report supplied by India bowling coach Morne Morkel.

“It’s fantastic that Shreyas has begun his rehabilitation. We are therefore excited to have them rejoin the team. The good news is that they are in good health and are getting ready to rejoin the team,” Morkel stated in Ranchi.
