Indian Premier League (IPL) games would not be moved from Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, according to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He promised that every IPL 2026 match would happen at the location on time. After voting in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections on Sunday, December 7, Shivakumar delivered the statement at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
He flatly denied any worries about the possible relocation of important games, including IPL matches, in the wake of the recent tragedy during the celebration of the RCB victory. In response to questions on the hosting of the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, he also reaffirmed that the state government and authorities will provide complete security and readiness for all significant cricketing events.
“This is an issue of respect for Bengaluru and the state of Karnataka. According to Shivakumar, who was cited by the Tribune, “We will allow whatever matches are available in the coming days.”
We’ll take action to guarantee that this location will host the upcoming IPL games.
As a lifelong cricket enthusiast, Shivakumar said he is confident the stadium will be ready for big events. In order to address future infrastructure needs and allay worries about crowd control, he continued, the government intends to build a bigger, alternative cricket stadium in Bengaluru.
Big people flocked to Chinnaswamy Stadium to watch RCB win the title for the first time in 17 years. However, the celebration went horribly wrong due to overcrowding, poor planning, and improper notifications, which led to numerous fatalities and injuries.
“I belong to the KSCA. Nagaraj gave me a membership when I was younger. I am a classmate of his son. Anil Kumble and Prasanna are among the many Brijesh Patel acquaintances I have. “I cast my ballot for the candidates I desired,” Shivakumar stated.
“I love cricket. We will make sure that the stadium’s dignity is maintained and that the recent tragedy doesn’t occur again. The stadium will be constructed by controlling the crowd while adhering to the law. As an option, we will also construct a larger stadium,” he continued.
The IPL 2026 auction, which will take place abroad for the third year in a row, is set for December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The 2026 edition, in contrast to the mega auctions, will use a mini-auction format and should be finished in a single day. The reigning champions have released a number of noteworthy items before to the auction. Liam Livingstone, an all-rounder for England, was let go by the team because he was unable to secure regular playing time.
Lungi Ngidi, a South African pacer who mostly played as a reserve during the previous season, has also been discharged by RCB. As the squad reorganises its international lineup for the forthcoming season, Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert have also been released.
