Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri seems to make a subtle jab at the team management regarding speed leader Jasprit Bumrah’s workload talks during India’s bowling difficulties in the current ODI series against South Africa.
The Proteas hitters have completely exposed the Indian pace attack, which includes Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana, in Jasprit Bumrah absence.
In the first two games, India has given up close to 700 runs. In response to the controversy over Jasprit Bumrah workload, Ravi Shastri said that using the star pacer successfully requires intelligence, implying that the management’s strategy may call for more discernment.
Dada bowling is what Bumrah does. Bumrah ko lene ke liye bhi akal hona chahiye na. (You need to be smart to use Bumrah). Regarding Prabhat Khabar, Shastri remarked, “You made him a white-ball bowler, so how has he become a red-ball bowler?”
Despite playing in just three of the five games during India’s tour of England, Bumrah has been at the focus of a significant workload management controversy. The star pacer is expected to make a comeback for the forthcoming T20Is, despite missing the current ODI series. He recently participated in both Test matches against South Africa.
Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made the suggestion during the talks that Bumrah should focus on white-ball cricket and only play Test matches when it is absolutely required. He added that Bumrah should stay away from pointless ODIs while still playing T20 cricket if he wants to play Test matches.
“My relationship with him is fantastic. I would go tell him to just play the white ball format if I were in his vicinity. Don’t enter the Test side unless we need you. And I would tell him that. But I am directly acquainted with him. He adores the format of the test. For as long as possible, he wants to play. “He is aware that it will be difficult,” Ashwin stated in an interview with AB de Villiers.
India and South Africa are currently embroiled in a three-match One-Day International series, which is currently knotted at one. South Africa recovered well in the second ODI in Raipur to tie the series after India won the first match in Ranchi.
