In advance of the next Indian Premier League season, Glenn Maxwell has chosen not to participate in the auction. Up to now, Maxwell has missed just one session since making his IPL debut in 2012.
Glenn Maxwell expressed thanks for being able to play in the top league over the previous many seasons, despite the fact that he did not formally explain his choice. He also thanked his Indian supporters for supporting him and acknowledged the league for helping to shape his career.
Many Indian fans and members of the cricket community were eager to witness him play in the IPL, thus social media users are asking why the sudden decision was made.
Glenn Maxwell could only muster 48 runs in six innings, though, so his form remained unchanged.
Glenn Maxwell has participated in 141 IPL games for four different teams and is scheduled to play for the Melbourne Stars in the 2025–26 Big Bash League. He was a member of the Punjab Kings in 2025. For the Australian all-rounder, the 2024 and 2025 seasons were quite forgettable.
During his fourth consecutive season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024, he only managed to score 52 runs in nine innings. At the pre-IPL 2025 mega auction, PBKS purchased him. Ultimately, the 2025 runners-up did not keep him.
Earlier in the year, the 37-year-old batting all-rounder declared his intention to retire from ODI cricket. It was believed that the action would increase his attention to the shortest format. He recently played for Australia against India in the Twenty20 International series. It’s unclear if Glenn Maxwell will be chosen or not as the T20 World Cup draws near.
