Before tonight’s 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 Eliminator matchup against the UAE Bulls at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Ajman Titans captain Moeen Ali is bursting with confidence.
When discussing the Titans’ run through the competition, Moeen underlined the calibre of cricket his team has played.
We’ve played some excellent cricket, so it’s been great. We performed admirably even in our most recent game against the Bulls. It goes without saying that I believe the UAE Bulls are the best team on paper, and they have been the target of that. But throughout, we’ve played fantastic cricket. So far, the tournament has been excellent, and we’ve had fun.
With 197 runs at a scorching strike rate of 262.66, the third-highest of the season, the England all-rounder has been in incredible form throughout the tournament. With 17 maximums, Moeen is equal with David Wiese for the most in the competition and is tied for fourth place in the six-hitting charts.
After the Titans lost to the Bulls by three wickets in their last group stage match on Friday night, despite Moeen Ali spectacular undefeated 29 off just 11 balls, tonight’s eliminator offers a chance for atonement. The Bulls’ postseason berth was guaranteed by that win. To guarantee their spot in the final, the Eliminator winner will need to win one more match.
The seasoned activist also discussed his views on momentum in tournament cricket, arguing that sometimes a setback can be advantageous.
“I always believe that losing in a tournament at the appropriate moment is beneficial. It’s not your goal to win every game. It’s different, after all, if you win every game and take home the trophy.
Thinking back on his experience playing the quickest format of cricket in Abu Dhabi, Moeen Ali said,
“The wickets are excellent. I believe that this year’s wickets have been the greatest of all the years I’ve played T10. Naturally, as is typically the case in the United Arab Emirates, and particularly in Abu Dhabi, the amenities are outstanding. It has always been an amazing tournament. All of the world’s best players come and play, and it only gets better. And taking part in it is fantastic.”
In response to a question on possible rivals should the Titans advance, Moeen Ali stated,
“We will compete against anyone in the finals. An end is an end.
