Rodrigues Talks Mental Health During Women’s WC

During India’s championship run in the 2025 Women’s World Cup, star cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues opened up about her actual feelings of worry and anxiety. During the recent big event, Jemimah struck at 101.03 and scored 292 runs in seven innings.

One of the top fielders in women’s cricket, Rodrigues, even opened up about how the pressure of expectations was preventing her from focussing and enjoying her fielding.

“I was experiencing a great deal of anxiousness from the very first game. I couldn’t get rid of it for some reason; sometimes you can’t psych it out. Even when fielding, I began to feel anxious, thinking, “I need to do something special now that I haven’t scored.”

According to Cricbuzz, Rodrigues said, “I was unable to enjoy my fielding.”

The middle-order batsman even described how her mother supported her during the difficult time and even suggested that she quit the competition in the midst to protect the cricket player’s mental health.

“Even if you want to leave the World Cup and return home, I’m okay,” my mother assured me. I’ll battle for it with everyone. What matters to me is that you’re pleased. “It means the world to me that you just said this,” she continued.

During India’s World Cup semi-final match against Australia in Navi Mumbai, Rodrigues  gave his best performance.

In what was a record chase by any team in women’s ODI cricket, she persevered to the very end to lead her team to victory. 14 fours were part of Jemimah’s dominant 134-ball 127-run innings.

A few days later, in the top match at the same location, the Women in Blue defeated South Africa by 52 runs. It was the most significant turning point in Rodrigues foreign career since her February 2018 debut.
