After being selected once more by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season, Indian spinner Shree Charani has expressed her satisfaction. The 21-year-old was purchased for INR 1.3 crore in the 2026 auction after making her WPL debut with DC in 2025. She said after signing that it felt like home to be back with the team.
Charani has emerged as one of the most promising young bowlers in India. Her outstanding Women’s World Cup performances and stellar 2025 season drew a lot of attention at the WPL 2026 auction. She was hired this year by the Delhi Capitals, who initially supported her in the 2024 auction for INR 55 lakh. In addition to Charani, the team strengthened their roster for the forthcoming season by adding important players like Sneh Rana, Chinelle Henry, and Laura Wolvaardt.
“I only wanted to play in the WPL this season with any team before the auction. I’m glad to be back with the Delhi Capitals, though. “I love playing for this team, and it feels like home,” she told JioHotstar.
